Shear It Up Grooming Policies

Welcome! My goal is to give every dog a comfortable, individualized grooming experience. Because I operate a small, one-on-one shop, please review these policies before booking.

Appointments & Scheduling

Appointments must be scheduled online so I have your dog’s information and you receive important appointment notifications. My shop operates by appointment only; walk-ins are not available.

48-Hour Cancellation Policy

I understand that plans change! Please cancel at least 48 hours before your scheduled appointment. Cancellations made with less than 48 hours’ notice are subject to a $25 cancellation fee. Your appointment email includes a personal cancellation link so you can cancel online without needing to contact me.

Missed Appointments

Every appointment reserves time specifically for your dog. A missed appointment is time that I often cannot offer to another client. Please be considerate and notify me if you cannot attend. Repeated missed appointments may affect your ability to schedule future appointments.

Arriving & Picking Up on Time

Please arrive at your scheduled appointment time. If you’re running late, contact me as soon as possible; I may need to reschedule if there is not enough time to groom your dog comfortably before my next appointment.

You will receive a text when your dog is ready. Please plan to pick up your dog within 30 minutes of that notification. My shop is small and I cannot accommodate extended stays after grooming. If something unexpected delays you, please let me know as soon as possible. Thank you for respecting my time and the other dogs on my schedule.

Matting, Coat Care & Grooming Schedules

Your Dog’s Comfort Comes First

I love creating beautiful, fluffy hairstyles, but your dog’s comfort and well-being will always come before maintaining a particular coat length. Longer hairstyles require regular professional grooming and proper care between appointments.

My Dematting Policy

I can address minor, isolated matting in common problem areas, such as the armpits, behind the ears and sanitary areas, provided it can be done safely and comfortably. I do not offer extensive dematting to preserve coat length when matting is present in multiple areas of the body. I will not put a dog through hours of uncomfortable brushing or unnecessary stress simply to keep its hair long. When matting is extensive, a shorter haircut or shave-down may be necessary.

Keep a Consistent Grooming Schedule

I generally recommend grooming every 6–8 weeks, depending on your dog’s coat type, coat length and individual needs. Some dogs need appointments more often. Regular full grooms or additional bath-and-fluff appointments between full grooms can help prevent matting and make longer, fluffier hairstyles possible.

Why Bathing at Home Doesn’t Remove Matting

Bathing a coat that already has tangles or mats will not remove them. Washing without first removing tangles, followed by towel-drying without thorough drying and brushing, can tighten existing mats and make them much harder to remove. If your dog’s coat becomes severely matted between appointments, a close shave-down may be the most comfortable option. A consistent grooming schedule and appropriate at-home coat care give us the best chance of keeping your dog fluffy without sacrificing comfort.

You can absolutely have a fluffy dog, but we have to work together to maintain that fluff!

Grooming Services

Shear It Up specializes in full-service grooming. Standalone nail-trimming appointments are not available unless you are also bringing another dog for a full-service appointment.

Because I work one-on-one with each dog, I am not always available to answer calls. Please review my website for answers or text me with questions, and I’ll respond when I’m available.
